Oxford Half Marathon 2026
15,000 runners of all abilities raced through the streets of Oxford yesterday for the fifteenth edition of the Oxford Half Marathon, raising over £1.3m for charity. Our photographer Roger Close was out on the course.
University Parks was transformed into a bustling event village with 20,000 spectators taking to the Oxford streets.

They raced right through the city centre, past local landmarks.

Sign game was strong from over 20,000 spectators supporting the runners…

…some of whom added to their racing challenge by running in costumes.

On a course known for being fast and flat, personal bests were up for grabs, and runners pushed hard right up to the finish line.

The male race was won by Alex Miell-Ingram in 1:07:22, and female race was won by Charlie Arnell, who finished with a time of 1:14:27.

Not far behind the winners, our photographer caught some flying feet…

Runners in high spirits supported each other around the course.

They say running produces endorphins – we caught some people on a runner's high…

And spotted Oxford's Lord Mayor, Chewe Munkonge, at the finish line. (We are most disappointed that he didn't wear his gold chain.)

And in the end, some people wanted to share that joy with their families.

After 13.1 miles, it was time for a medal.

Ian Allerton, managing director at Motiv Sports UK, said: “Oxford once again showed up to create an amazing atmosphere for everyone involved this weekend. It’s been a brilliant weekend, it’s great to see so many people come together to celebrate the city, raise an incredible amount of money for charity and cheer on everyone who took part today.”
